BAN ANIMAL TESTING IN OREGON
This is happening in our state—and it must end.
At the Oregon National Primate Research Center, operated by OHSU, thousands of monkeys are locked in cages, subjected to painful experiments, and left to suffer in silence. Funded by millions in taxpayer dollars, these labs represent the worst of outdated, unethical science.
As a candidate for Governor of Oregon, I will end taxpayer funding for animal torture. No more cruelty under the false banner of “research.” It's time for compassion, transparency, and real accountability.
What’s Really Happening?
- Over 5,000 primates are housed at the OHSU lab in Hillsboro, Oregon.
- Investigations and whistleblower reports have revealed:
- Painful experiments with little to no pain relief
- Neglect and abuse, including broken limbs, open wounds, and psychological trauma
- Millions in public funding wasted on cruel and unnecessary procedures
This isn’t science. It’s suffering.
My Pledge as Governor
- I will immediately end all state funding for animal testing and research on primates.
- I will push for Oregon’s complete withdrawal from OHSU’s primate program.
- I will promote cruelty-free, modern alternatives like AI-based modeling, synthetic tissue, and human cell cultures.
- I will work to ban primate testing statewide by executive order and legislative partnership.
- We can be a leader in ethical science, not a home for hidden torture.
The Time Is Now
Other nations have already banned or severely restricted primate testing. Oregon can—and must—be next. As Governor, I will fight for a future where science doesn’t require suffering, and where we lead with humanity.
